Sustainability

At Coronado, we are committed to creating a sustainable future by:

  • operating safely and supporting the health and wellbeing of our people;
  • respecting and protecting the environment;
  • enhancing our local communities;
  • building engaged and motivated teams; and
  • operating ethically and producing a robust economic platform for growth.

Sustainability reporting

Coronado released its first Group Sustainability Report in 2019, disclosing whether the Coronado Group had any material exposure to relevant sustainability risks and, if it did, how it managed or intended to manage those risks.  In the years that followed, the Group Sustainability Report developed into a comprehensive document covering a wide range of sustainability topics, including climate change, environment, safety and health, people, community, and corporate governance as they related to all Group operations. Coronado voluntarily reported in alignment with, or in reference to, a broad range of recognised frameworks, with the intention of communicating and demonstrating our commitment to building a sustainable and socially responsible business.

Coronado’s wholly owned Australian entity (Coronado Australia Holdings Pty Ltd, or CAH) is required, under the Australian Corporations Act, to lodge a ‘Sustainability Report’, containing climate-related disclosures prepared in accordance with a specified sustainability framework established under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS).  Although the obligations under the Corporations Act relating to sustainability reporting apply only to our Australian subsidiaries, we chose to use this as an opportunity to review our sustainability reporting across the Group.

Accordingly, this report largely covers similar content and information that aligns with the CAH climate-related disclosure obligations, but from a Coronado Group perspective.

We will continue to share news and information on initiatives focused on other critical sustainability aspects, such as environment, safety and health, people and community on our website. This will include updated case studies, as well as other relevant information and data. We will also continue to publish our sustainability databook to demonstrate trends and provide historical information.

Our sustainability principles

Support the health and wellbeing of our people by maintaining a safe workplace with the ultimate goal of zero harm.

Respect our environment by minimising the impact of our business activities and rehabilitating affected landscapes.

Be a valued and active member of the local communities in which we operate by delivering economic benefit and engaging in an open and transparent manner.

Build teams of engaged and motivated individuals that understand the positive and social economic relevance of what they do.

Operate fairly and equitably with suppliers and customers and generate profitable and sustainable returns of security holders.
