Barrie van der Merwe joined Coronado Global Resources Inc. in April 2025 as Chief Financial Officer before being appointed Chief Executive Officer August 2026. As Chief Financial Officer, he led the Company's global finance function and played a key role on the Executive Leadership Team. His financial expertise, strategic leadership and deep understanding of the business continue to support the Company's operational and commercial objectives.

Barrie is an experienced global executive who has more than 20 years’ experience in the resources sector, having worked across a range of countries including Australia, South Africa, and Botswana. His prior roles include Chief Financial Officer at Evolution Mining, a publicly listed Gold and Copper business; Chief Financial Officer. His prior roles include Vice President – Group Finance at Orica Limited; Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at Lonmin Plc; Chief Financial Officer at Debswana Diamond Company; as well as a range of senior finance roles within Anglo American Platinum.

Barrie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honours from the University of Pretoria and is a Chartered Accountant.
