Tony Jackson – 20 years of service at Buchanan Mine

On 16 January 2026, Tony Jackson marked an impressive milestone completing 20 years at Buchanan Mine.

Tony began his mining career in 2006 as part of Buchanan’s Red Hat Apprentice Program. Designed to introduce new miners to every facet of underground operations, the program provides hands-on experience across belt and track systems, mine ventilation and general labour duties. It equips apprentices with a strong foundation in safe work practices while immersing them in Coronado’s culture and standards from day one.

Over the past two decades, Tony has held almost every underground role there is at Buchanan, building broad operational knowledge and experience. Today, he works as an Underground Loadout Operator at the #1 Vent Loadout, where he monitors the skips to ensure coal is transported safely and efficiently from the underground storage area to the Preparation Plant.

A proud third-generation coal miner, Tony carries on a family legacy established by his father and grandfather. He takes great pride in helping supply high-quality metallurgical coal to global markets.

Outside of work, Tony enjoys spending time with his wife, Charlotte, and their dogs. He is also an avid Dallas Cowboys supporter and a keen NASCAR fan.
