Case study
2025 West Virginia Flood
In February 2025, devastating flooding impacted Mingo, McDowell, Logan, and Wyoming counties in West Virginia, as well as Pike and Martin counties in Kentucky. These are all areas that employees of our Logan operation call home.
The Tug River in Williamson reached a height of 48.35 feet, making it the second highest level on record. Communities such as Welch, Williamson, Pikeville, and Kermit were particularly devastated by the flood. The rapid rise in water was caused by intense rainfall combined with the swift snowmelt and runoff from the region’s mountainous terrain.
As a result, 13 employees experienced damage to their homes. In response, we offered employees the opportunity to donate to a relief fund, with the company matching contributions. A total of $21,836 was raised. Additionally, the company contributed $1,000 toward purchasing lime, which is essential for disinfecting areas contaminated by sewage or organic material after a flood.
