Coronado Global Resources (CRN) accelerates growth with appointment of Jeff Bitzer as Group Chief Operating Officer

Coronado Global Resources (CRN) is proud to announce an organisational change at the executive level that will strengthen our team and drive our company forward toward an exciting future. This will see Coronado establishing a Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) role, which Jeff Bitzer will be appointed to on 10 July 2023.

Jeff Bitzer currently serves as the COO for Coronado’s U.S. Operations and has effectively held this position for the past two years. Since joining Coronado in 2013, Jeff has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the Vice President of U.S. Operations. In this capacity, he has been responsible for overseeing safety and environmental performance, cost management, productivity, and capital expenditure for all U.S. Operations.

With over 40 years of comprehensive experience in operations management within the coal mining industry, Jeff possesses a robust technical background encompassing safety management, environmental compliance, cost control and analysis, production management, reserve evaluation, quality control, and process improvement. His operational and technical expertise has earned him a high level of recognition and respect.

CEO Douglas Thompson conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, “Today’s executive-level organisational change marks a pivotal moment for Coronado Global Resources. Through the establishment of the Group Chief Operating Officer role and the appointment of Jeff Bitzer, we are laying a strong foundation for the continued growth and success of our company.”

Coronado is excited for the future and the benefits afforded to the company by this leadership change. These benefits include increased sharing of knowledge and expertise between sites and regions to boost safety, innovation, efficiency, and sustainability measures globally, the opportunity for operational leadership teams to further refine their attention on hitting production targets, and a more sustained focus on Coronado’s strategic growth.
