Investing in Our People: Coronado's Partnership with MCPA

At Coronado, our strength as a business comes down to our people, and we’re committed to investing in their ongoing development through partnerships with respected industry bodies like the Metallurgical Coal Producers Association (MCPA). This commitment was on display when Coronado representatives attended the MCPA Annual Conference and Expo, held 18–20 May at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia, joining metallurgical coal producers, industry partners and government representatives from across the sector.

Sending our people to forums like this builds real capability, not just awareness. This year’s program gave attendees exposure to presentations on the metallurgical steel market and the relationship between coal, steel and utility infrastructure, technical briefings on silica regulations and mine safety, a seaborne coking coal market update, a panel of leading US metallurgical coal executives discussing industry performance and challenges, and a closing legislative and regulatory outlook on government affairs and environmental matters.

Beyond the formal sessions, the Expo provided our people with the opportunity to build relationships with peers, regulators and industry leaders, connections that sharpen their expertise and strengthen how they operate day to day. By partnering with organisations such as MCPA, Coronado ensures our team keeps growing alongside the industry, deepening their knowledge in safety, market dynamics and regulatory change, and bringing that back to support the future of the global steel and energy supply chain.
