As per the recent ASX announcement, Coronado Global Resources Inc. is proud to confirm an update to its executive leadership team. Effective today, Mr Barrie Van der Merwe will join Coronado as Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

As CFO, Mr van der Merwe will be responsible for finance, capital management, treasury, tax, risk management and ensuring that the financial operations of the group support the delivery of business objectives. He will also be a member of Coronado’s group executive team.

Mr van der Merwe is an experienced global executive who has more than 20 years’ experience in the resources sector, having worked across a range of countries including Australia, South Africa, and Botswana. His prior roles include CFO at Evolution Mining, Vice President – Group Finance at Orica Limited; CFO and Executive Director at Lonmin Plc, CFO at Debswana Diamond Company, and he has held a range of senior finance roles within Anglo American Platinum.

Mr van der Merwe started his career at PwC and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with honours.
