Today marks an exciting new chapter for the Coronado Curragh Complex as we, Coronado Global Resources and Talisman Partners, officially open Mammoth Underground Mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin.
After years of planning and collaboration, we are proud to showcase our successful partnership that has resulted in this milestone, which brings new opportunities for innovation, local jobs, and sustainable mining.
Mammoth Mine has a rich history dating back to 1902, with previous operations laying the groundwork for the project we are celebrating today. Mammoth Underground boasts substantial reserves of high-quality met coal, totalling 41 million ROM tonnes, with production expected to reach an incremental 1.5–2.0 Mtpa in its first phase.
This milestone event was made even more special with Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Regional and Rural Development, the Hon. Dale Last officially opening the mine, and Member for Gregory, Mr Sean Dillon also sharing insights about the future of the project and its significance to the region. Attendees witnessed the momentous first cutting of coal – a powerful symbol of the dedication and teamwork that has made this project a reality.
This is just the beginning. As we look ahead, we’re excited about the role Mammoth will play in driving innovation, creating local jobs, and advancing sustainable mining practices.
Here’s to powering progress, together!
